Congrats!! That is a steal at that price. I have that exact model and it is a super-beast. Almost seems unfair to call it a boombox.

,but you would need a generator to power the fh7 anywhere outside ,that's where the pc 55 has full advantage .

The FH7 can take batteries, but you'll need the rarer than BB40 DC battery accessory in order to use batteries. The adapter replaces the power supply on the bottom and takes 12-D batteries and has it's own built in amp.
Oh, and Floyd... if you like the FH7, word has it that the series II sounds better, and the series III sounds even better still.

i did know about the fh 7 mk 2 it's the black one with apm speakers
i spent a good 10 minutes trying to find the battery compartment on the fh 7 just to find out i doesn't have one

Right. Can't see anyone would want to do the battery thing unless they were rechargeables. I imagine it would eat them. Plus 12 D cells. 12.
As for color -- both the 2 and 3 series are available in black or silver. Not sure about the series I, all I ever saw on that model is silver.
