I will post picture later..Northerner said:Pics!!
My other M90 VU is dark red. This is kind of yellowish. I don't think it has to do with UV degradation. It seems like this box had not seen much sunlight at all. It spend most of its time in a cabinet with a glass door. Not even a mark on the corners... almost look like new out of box.Transistorized said:Very Nice!
Have you had an opportunity to try it out? Does the tape deck function? Probably would be a good idea to install new belts even if it plays. I was noticing the VU's. I think it has been discussed before on here but yours seem more yellow than red. Mine are dark red. Some say it's due to UV exposure and some say it's where they were made (shrug).
Anyway, it's always nice to obtain one of these. It's one of those boxes that you just have to jump in head first when they come up. This model would be deeply missed if I ever had to part with one for an emergency.
Looking forward to a video

Great find and in nice condition. Just goes to show that these are still out there tucked away.
As for the vu thing... I still don’t know. I found another M90 earlier this summer and it had deep red vu’s and blue speakers. My first one from years ago had orange and grey. Both of them ‘LB’s. Common sense tells me that it’s UV affecting the meters but I couldn’t honestly say I knew the answer 100%.
The debate goes on.
Thanks so much!lewdawg said:Wow. Congratulations.
Thank you! That is correct! I don't care about the VU color provided all other parts are looking mint.Timecop1987 said:Congratulations! A 6 hours roadtrip is well spent time for that kind of machinery! Looking forward to the pics!
As for the VU-Meter color - I had the same peoblem and asked about it around here (check out the topic here: http://boomboxery.com/forum/index.php/topic/29226-m90-vu-meter-color-shemes/?fromsearch=1)
As it shows they definitely all had red VU-meters - the color on these seems to fade faster than the one on the speakers. My M90 has deep blue original speakers and yellow VU-meters as well as a brownish line in the Tuner-area. When I opened it up I saw that this line was originally red.
As far as I am concerned: I don’t care about the VU-color..the yellow grew on me, even if it ain’t original.
Thank you so much! I just got lucky! This month I got a beautiful Sony CFS 77 and M90. I'm so happy!1986GLH said:Big congrats! That thing is a beauty!
Thanks so much! Always wanted a perfect M90 in my collection.Rimmer36 said:Congrats she looks a beut, every one needs 2 m90's at least in there collections haha
, as for the vu's it's a fading thing 100%, one of my m90's used to have red vu's but now there orange and it's kept out of direct light

You lucky man lol.
Actually it was heavy rain with lightnings.... ....I was so scared.... 66 miles through single lane country roads ...was not easy.Brutus442 said:2 M90's??
Lightning can strike twice! Very nice...
Not to dredge up this often discussed topic but I have a theory. I also have the M90 with the grey speakers and orange combo and it was sheltered from the sunlight. I believe it to be a result of a change in paint supplier/ treatment process. This is just my opinion but it would be curious to see if all of the orange/ grey machines were made in a certain time frame (from the manufacturers line stamp inside the chassis).
Anyway's back to our previously scheduled droolfest....pics!!!!
