All of this is very true.
Had I not been so determined, persistent, arrogant and lucky, I wouldn't have my M90. But for now, let's say I didn't have it, the M70 would've been the best economical choice.
Although they are starting to climb as well.
From someone who has a M90 and M70 I will say this. The go for the doe is much better on the M70 unless you get extremely lucky and find a M90 for 400 to 600 dollars. Even then, IMO the deck being mechanically engaged on the M70 versus electronically actuated on the M90 means one less thing likely to fail.
If I wanted a M90 and could not obtain one, I'd be happy gravitating towards the M70. Again, for the price, performance and availability, you just can't beat them.
That being said, if this guy running this eBay add wants this M90 to sell, he could get 1200 for it (includes shipping) if everything is working. Still one of the best prices on the bay I've seen in a while. At least it's not 3 and 5K (ridiculous).
But a M70 stretching into the 349.99 category (fully working) is a better deal. You are not going to hear 700 dollars more of a difference in sound (or more) from the 70 to the 90.
So get a M70 and forget about the M90 until it falls in your lap, or you get lucky and or determined like I did.
I will shamelessly say this though. If I didn't have a M90 and I saw a fully working example that I could purchase and have shipped for 1200 dollars total, for the sake of having one, I would buy it...but that's me . I know in my area I could get at least that later when/if I want to sell.
Make no mistake about it, the M90 is one of the best in the era, but their price to performance ratio is way off on eBay. 1200...ok yeah it'll sell. 3 to 5K...no way! Again, even at 1,200 dollars, I see more of a bargain on the M70 at 300 to 350 dollars.
