I love the Sony sports series from the first time I saw one of these. It was a yellow WM-35. They are something different. The bright yellow color and the water protection.
I think they are role models to the modern outdoor/fitness product lines. Sony came up with a unique design language that screams: "Bring me to the beach!"
For me yellow is their best color even if the other colors are more rare. But that yellow reminds me of the submarines from James Bond movies. Makes sense, that they used a WM-F5 in one.

So here comes my yellow walkman collection. Most of them is Sony sports but you will see some other brands at the end.
Btw. I have matching headphones in most pictures but I´m not sure if these were the original ones that came with the walkman.

First one is the Sony WM-F5 mentioned before. It started the sports line and if I remeber it right, this one was the first DD with FM radio.
It was used as a prop in "James Bond - A View To A Kill" with Roger Moore and Grace Jones. A great walkman and a great movie.

Number Two, the Sony WM-F107. This one is really something else! Solar Panel on top and a battery case which is connected to the belt clip and can be removed. It also features a FM/AM radio and Dolby Noise Reduction.
As far as I understand the concept (having no manual) the solar panel produces enough power to run the radio (in bright sunlight) but you will need battaries to run a tape. And the solar panel can charge the battery.
Thats what I call an outdoor product!

Number three - the Sony WM-35 - was actually the first Sony sports in my collection. I found it on a flea market some years ago and then started looking around for other models.
I think it was the cheapest in the sports line. However I love that bull´s eye. It underlines the nautical design perfectly.

Number four is the Sony WM-F35. Basically the same model as the WM-35 but with different window design and with a FM/AM radio on board.

Number five is the Sony WM-F54. Got a FM/AM radio and you will notice, that the big clutch which holds the tape door is now yellow and more integrated in the walkman design.

Number six is the Sony WM-AF59. Black clutch again but AM/FM radio plus Auto Reverse.

Number seven is the Sony WM-F73 with AM/FM radio, Auto Reverse and Dobly Noise Reduction.

Number eight is the Sony WM-SX34 with Auto Reverse, AVLS ear protection system and Mega Bass. And it features a bright orange strap instead of a belt clip.

Number nine: Sony WM-FS393. This one is full of features: AM/FM radio, Auto Reverse, AVLS and Mega Bass. And a very unique tape door closing mechanism.

Number ten - Sony WM-FS397 - seems to be the successor. Same features but smaller and a different design. The inside is orange, which looks quite cool.

Number eleven is the Sony WM-FS495. Yeah, thats the newschool I guess. It features Auto Reverse, AVLS and Mega Bass. The radio got FM/AM/TV and a digital diplay. You can store stations to presets and you got a stopwatch.

Number twelve and thirteen are on the same picture.
On the left side is the Sony SRF-8 a small FM/AM radio.
On the right side are the Sony SRF-HM55 headphones with integrated PLL synthesized radio (AM/FM) and 10 memory presets.

Okay, enough with the counting.
Here we have another great product of the Sony sports line. The Sony CCD-SP5E is a Video 8 camera. Its water protected and looks so cool!

You probably know, that lots of Sony sports clones are out there. Most of them are ugly and cheap.
Not this one! Its a GE 3-5490A. The quality is decent. I would say it´s on the same level like the WM-F35. And the design is quite cool. It features a AM/FM radio.

The last two are not water protected but are yellow. So I decided to show them too.

Philips Moving Stereo D6636 with AM/FM radio.

Panasonic RQ-JA 51. A cheap one but I love yellow...
