It was in mint condition but most likely price boosted by advertising on other site.
Overpriced though if you ask me.

Nice.......although if I were Aiwa I would have made the grill supports blue so that they blend in with the rest of the blue

I don't think the woofers on that one is original. The sheen on the cone does not look right and the dustcaps are supposed to be chrome, not aluminum looking like that.

I dunno. In real life, those supports aren't nearly as noticeable as when photographed, especially if a flash was used. Anyhow, I think it sort of grows on you and I sorta do like the industrial all business look to it.

You are right. The two main drivers have been changed according to the seller. It had a complete overhall including belts and heads.

The buyer paid silly money if you ask me....

Your opinion doesn't matter because the only opinions that are relevant are those of the two high bidders. eBay is the ultimate expression of market price. 2-willing buyers + a willing seller = market price.

I was watching the auction as that Aiwa is in good nick. I was prepared to bid up to £301 for it. £530? No chance.
Mind you, when will we see an 880 in that condition again? Fook knows.

Agreed. We all know they are there, and if they were blue it would almost look like a failed atempt to hide them. I like the contrast of the black on darker blue back; goes with the overal colour scheme.

the cs 880 has the largest magnets i have seen on any boom box speakers , those woofers can really move some air and sound good doing it , this uses very high quality speakers including the tweeters and the radiator , no junk in the cs 880 one of the finest 1 piece boxes around and if a discolite can sell for over $1000.00 then the cs 880 should sell for more :-P .

those are not the original woofers which should kill the price it got :nonono: , i can tell you the factory woofers are fine and can be repaired fairly cheap and easy .

Well, mystery is solved. Looks like Rimmer is the one that bought that 880.
Did he? What an idiot! He advertises the hell out of the listing and tells guys to go for it and then goes and wins it himself?! :dunce: When he gets it, it'll have a problem. Just watch. Then he'll post how he needs help. Then he'll dismantle the whole thing. Then he'll break it. :bang: All the while comparing it to an M90.

Oh really? :-O Wow. No more M90 obsession? And a downgrade to the Crown 850 no less. Weird. Either way, consider that nice Aiwa 880 molested and destroyed from here on out. And I'm just saying this for the lurkers who will copy my words and PM them to Rimmer.
