I FINALLY stumbled across something worthwhile in the wild!
BACKGROUND: Three months ago on a complete whim I walked into a pawn shop and found a pair of Technics 1200, a low end Stanton DJ CD player, cheapo mixer and low end Sony headphones, all packaged in a turntable "coffin" style roadcase for a ridiculously low price. Granted, everything was really dirty and I didn't have time to test the gear, but the price was so low that I could not pass up the deal. Plus, they let me put the lot on layaway. To make the payments, I must go to the store.
PRESENT DAY: So, I'm in the store the other day, standing in line waiting to make my payment and I overhear a conversation between an older gentleman and the store manager. Basically, the manager told the guy "I'm sorry sir, but that unit is simply too old for us to purchase from you. There just isn't a market for those anymore. People want ones that they can plug an Ipod or other type of MP3 player into and it does not have a CD player."
At that point I glanced down at the item in question and could only see the back of the unit and that it looked like some kind of 3-piece box. But my view was obscured because of the people.
As the guy turned to leave disappointed, I got a look at the item and it was a pristine Sanyo C-4!!!!!
Needless to say, I stepped out of line and followed him out of the store.
As you can imagine, now the box is mine.
It turns out the tape deck works just fine, and it even has the original papers and was loaded with 8 fully charged D-cells! I was able to test it on the spot!
Here she is!
Complete with warning sticker about using the handle rather than grabbing the speakers instead!
Full frontal!
