Just thought I would post up about a small issue I have with one of my boxes. One of the woofers doesn't move as much as the other when cranked up, any ideas what this could be? I'm no techy so go easy lol :-D a diagnosis would be much appreciated if possible, Cheers in advance.

The simplest check is output on either channel starting with a simple "ear" test.

Is one noticeably louder than the other when balanced? Is a balance control present? :-)

Yes the woofer that moves more seems to be slightly louder, more bass. I have compared both woofs with the balance control

i have seen this happen from basic stereo separation , in short means that one channel receives a different signal to the amp and you usually have more bass from one side and more treble from the other side and both sides mixed together sounds normal.

Probably not a speaker problem - more like an amp problem (assuming all pots etc are clean and functional).
Yes all pots are clean and functional:-)

What causes that problem? I have several boxes like that. All the lows on one side, and all the highs on the other. Pisses me off.

The bass track is often in mono.

After working on a C100F recently, both channels were matched exactly for tone, bass and overall volume for both channels. I've also had many radios that had uneven output from the left and right channels - age related wear & tear - these things are over 30 years old!

Yeah I keep forgetting how old they are lol. It's not a massive difference by any means so I guess I will just put up :-)

It's a problem if nearly ALL the bass goes to one channel, because then it will distort too soon.

I'm probably more novice than you and by far the least qualified person that has responded to you but for what ever it's worth here's my 2 cents:

I had the same problem on my Rising 20/20. The left speaker sounded slightly better and the bass was hitting harder. My problem was solved when I got the correct auxiliary cable. I was using a 3.5 y- cable with two stereo male ends leading to a female end. But the Rising is wired in such a way that each channel leading to the right and left speaker is wired in mono. Therefore I needed a y-cable with 2 male mono ends. I bought the right cable and problem solved. Now both speakers are hitting at the same level and since my auxiliary cable leading to the female Y is a stereo cable I get great stereo output from my Rising.

This could be the solution to your problem if your problem involves an auxiliary cable. But if this happens when you are play the radio or tapes then my knowledge is no good to you.

Good Luck
