I bought this Mostly as a parts box But, if it turns out to be a fuse or a power cord issue, this is going to be great deal! :w00t:

Buying a nonworking radio is like playing the lottery. You buy your ticket, (a big ticket with a handle), and hope you get lucky!

I am surprised at the price though. Another one sold in the same day for 50$, and it had a missing/broken handle!

( p.s.
anyone have a switch and a battery box for one of these? :-) )

Thanks. Yeah I noticed that extra addition  . I would have backed out too if it happened mid-auction.

As the first bidder on the relisting, I took it as no big deal since it was under the radio, and it is a small cover. I can make my own replacement if I cant find one on the forum.

Well, the 10$ JVC-M80 arrived today, here is the initial overview:

The Good news: It came with 10 D batteries, and they appear to be brand new! :w00t:
It was also packed well, good padding all around. :-)

The bad news: Everything else! :sadno:
There is NO WAY this radio should have initially been listed at 100$. It has deep marks, scratches all over it, all knob chrome is damaged, even the top is scratched to heck. The speaker grill is also cracked apart on the right side.

Basically, I paid for ten very well protected batteries to be delivered from North Carolina.

I'm going to take it apart, maybe a silver coin slipped in there by chance, giving this thing some value.

Lesson of this story: Buy from members. Yes, you may pay more than "deals on ebay", but in the long run, the price is forgotten, and only the radio remains.

In my case, a remaining radio that smells of mold so bad that it is now basking in the glow of the New Mexico desert sun (it has been banished from the house)

P.S significant other : " the handle may make a good toilet paper holder. anyone that paid 100$ for this would have been really sad and dissapointed."

Aw, man, I hate to see stories like that. Surely you have $10 worth of parts. ;-)

That sucks but at least you get something out of the deal with the batteries. :w00t:

My first M-80 was a similar experience and has since been dismantled, when mine arrived it had dozens of little plastic bits and one big chunk rattling around inside.

The seller refunded some of my money so it only cost $30 shipped, not bad for a little lesson and a box of parts.

Riccoche,

Great news, this box is now available again! If you still want one then I can help you out! :-D

It will be ready to ship in a few days :-) , once the rest of the swamp mud comes off the bottom

And for an added bonus, I'll even cart it to your house, if you live close enough! :-O

I'll buy the handle assembly. $11?
I'll consider that! If I part it youll be first in line. :-)
I'm going to hit it will alcohol and see if it will fire up, but I dont have my hopes up. There was water 2 inches up the inside, and the lower speaker brackets are rusted.

:-O You mean you weren't kidding? This really was swimming with the fishes then?
yes, it was water soaked at some point, the speakers and entire backing show water stains. The bucket was actually brown water, my significant other dumped the first bucket out, or the shot would have been more realistic, there was heavy dirt all along the bottom of this thing.
