so i decided to scoop it i mean it is pretty cool not to often you find something as strange as these up here and besides its easy to carry. has a tape deck and a cd player .
got it home tho not everything is working but there is a missing antenna and the radio sadly just wont go. i suspect it must be a issue with a switch. one of the switches has a busted piece but i can get the tape deck and the cd player to work. the clock and everything else is working too. its one of the strangest boxes of all the ones i have. is sounds ok for what it is. i mean its very small and very japanese.

thanks guys. i am thinking it is the selector switch and that it is dirty.
the unit is in very good shape overall.
i cant get fm still but i did get am and it worked well.
when i first got it the radio was no go.
the main on off switch has a tab busted off of it so you have to flick it for it to work but it works and when i spend some time with this unit i am really thinking this must have been made for people with very very limited real estate at home.
it easily fits on a bookshelf in fact its so slim its kind of about the size of a book.
sound wise on cd its pretty good. i can walk around with it and it does not skip. on tape its very good no dolby here but a very good auto reverse tape deck.
the buttons for setting this unit are a bit finicky. tunning is odd as well up and down buttons can get a bit annoying but it is cool.
it rolls of the bass it cannot produce pleasantly and you are left with enough of it to represent the music quite well.
the unit i think it meant to be operated with the speakers unfolded allthough you can operate it with them folded its muffled.
this unit is from the time sansui had shifted gears into the world of portable audio. in fact there is a article somewhere on the web about this period of time.
the fit and finish of this is very good the way the unit is laid out uses the space it has very smartly. remember this is most likely from a time where the idea of a radio cassette and cd player all in one small unit must have been a very very novel idea.
i cant think of a smaller unit with all these features.
there is a line out on the back marked aux speakers i have no idea if it is also a phone jack.
there is a mic in jack with adjustable gain.
i do not know if it is a stereo in but i am suspecting it is not.
the unit is about the size of a small lap top computer.
very cool design.

This is pretty cool -- very unique. Too bad Stranj can't see it!

BTW, that box that Stranj has as his avatar is pretty wild looking too!

Thanks Pointdexter it's a Kasuga made in Venezuela (a pretty long time ago)... it's got cassette deck, am/fm radio and turntable!

The pictures are not loading up all the way just a very slim strip at top... dman!

Hey Bill...If you ever want to let it go..you know it has that magical name... ;-)

well this is one of those boomboxes that would be easy to ship.
i would most likely hang on to it but if i did sell it i would chuck it into one of those padded laptop bags and then box it.
i wonder why these photos wont show on some peoples browsers.
did you try refreshing the page.

Sorry bill, my bad, this Google Chrome is the problem I copied the link on Safari and it worked, so whenever I wanna see your weird boombox I'll just jump to Safari... ;-)

By the looks of it, it's a vertical loading CD right? So when you have the boombox sittin' in front of you with it's speakers opne the CD lid opens towards you correct?
Also, do you have it working off battery power? How many "C" or "D" does she pack? Or did it come with the AC cord? Or should I say adaptor maybe? :-O too many questions... :-/

yes it loads vertically there is a neat little clip in there to hold the cd while you are closing the door. its very cool how it works.
it takes six c cels.
no adapter but i just used a universal 9 volt with it. it works of both batteries and the adapter.
the tape deck works very well excellent actually. the cd does to.
radio needs love. i am sure opening it up and cleaning the switch would be the biggest aid to its well being.

its a extremely cool little oddity and it is red :-)
