WHY fake tweets ?????

there were many good size // and great looking boxes made
with these fugazees

what for ?
these boxes have hundreds are careful parts and
$ a fortune invested in the designs, molds and marketing $$$ , etc, etc

many are from korea --or singapore or like that -
parts // labor were sooooooooooo cheap -

why save less than ONE BUCK -
to have a resulting sound quality --say worth FIFTY bucks less

any guesses

The cost difference between piezos and quality cone tweeters is probably way more than a buck. Then piezo's don't need high filter capacitors which standard tweeters do or they'll get damaged by the low frequencies. Perhaps they sounded OK when new. But over the years, they lose efficiency to where almost every piezo tweeter I heard is like, the sounds of silence. Either that or the tone reproduced is such high frequency that maybe only dogs can hear?

still - to me --this does not 'add-up' correctly
say it was a 5 bucks savings ( DOUBT IT ) --

the box retail value is 30 to 70 bucks LESS !!!

ira sometimes lasonic in particular would build a box with tweeters but another model without not really sure why maybe they wanted to make buyers think it really had them ,,and to be honest ira these boxes do not really have so much highs that are so noticible unless you can get close enough to at least hear something ,, only a selected few boxes really shine in that department which basicly you can hear those highs....

I'm sure there are more places skimped than just the tweeters. Plus consider that more expensive products also have higher markups than the bread/butter stuff, which lures you to the brand.

Ramon -- go listen to an RX-5150, which had those fake tweeters. Then go listen to the RX-5250 which is the exact same size and probably the same case back.... has real tweeters. The sound difference is night/day.

last night -
i did a comparo with these 2 --
and it was an immediate slam-dunk for the 920 ---with the REAL tweets

yes- they both have the identical big pounding bass-
but --the 920 sounds so much more real and exciting = NO COMPARO at all

yes- they both have the identical big pounding bass-
but --the 920 sounds so much more real and exciting = NO COMPARO at all

well some boxes have piezo tweeters ,,i rather have real ones ,some of these piezo are not worth a crap on boxes ,,but if it were the bigger hd stuff then it would have been a different story....

Quality should prevail over cost, but I guess that's business...
