I thought about making a kit for this model. But I don't have one of my own to develop the kit. This one was done on the fly. In a few days, it will be gone. A marketable kit would have to take into consideration that the installer is maybe not as technical and needs the kit to be easy. I would need one (even a dead or just a shell) to take notes and measurements, testing the fit and finish as required so the installation can be duplicated easily and consistently.
Maybe someday, I can do it. For now, all I can tell you is that while the light on button is similar to the M70, the installation is far more difficult.
For one, the innards can not be removed to expose the dial in one complete chassis cluster. Instead, the tuner, amp/preamp board, cassette deck assembly, and tuner dial string chassis -- all needs to be removed separately. Basically, everything needs to be removed except the speakers. Soldering is required for lamp installation and for disassembly.
In any event, I was commissioned to do this mod for another member, in the other forum. I'm rather selective with work like this but now after having done it, I must say I'm happy how it turned out and feel the results is definitely worth the effort. Some boomboxes respond well to this type of mod, some do not. This one is definitely.......
