Seems there is more difference than I originally thought...
8280 "Perdisco" Looks like it shares much of the top plate with the great looking 8180. Upside down tape orientation.
8290 - Much more modern look w/LEDs and completely different tape deck with upright tape orientation.

The 8190 and 8290 look identical except for the color -- one being silver, the other gray/silver.
I also have an 8801 and it looks the same once again except instead of LED vu's it has analog VU's in the same location.

That 8290 pic is actually an 8190....
The 8290 (silver) has more traditional 'piano key' tape controls, the 8190 (grey) tape buttons are more chunky.
