Have not seen myself, but it looks like it may have faded due to the inconsistency in that rear shot. That said the front looks solid and different from the rear case.

COOOL, Very summer-ish !

Yep, agree that PC-55 faded in the front and the rear part and handle bear colour more closer to original. :)
So there were probably no JVCs PC-55 in white?

it would be hard for an entire boombox to fade from silver white evenly , i think it was originally white with silver accents. it looks like the white has faded to yellow in places but i can't see an entire boombox fading like that and show no other damage from direct sun light. the sun must have been shining on all sides at once lol.

Saw one in Korea '96 while stationed there... but didn't think twice about it. It was a pearlescent white. If only I knew then what I know now... :bang:

I agree. The almost perfect even distribution of "fade" makes this highly unlikely it was simply bleached by the sun.

If this Victor is a true white specimen, it'll no doubt be among the rarest of the rare!

Could be do to a very heavy smoker causing the silver to turn yellow :hmmm:
Hopefully I will have a chance to take a smell of it in 1.5 months when PC has arrived.
Probably it would still reek of tobacco.. :-)

not to mention these speaker cabinets are laminated and the laminate is the color of the radio, i can see plastic fading but for the laminate to fade equally with the plastic is asking a lot of the sun. that boombox prolly sat near a window for its entire life , i mean there's not even a ding on the cabinet corners and that's rare on these boxes.

I was about to comment the same - plastic colour is most probably degrading faster than laminate.

I used to have a white A&D TA-57W, also internal Japanese machine -
nothing to write home about sound wise but that's the only box
I've ever seen so far under A&D brand.
The whole plastic box and it has been fading in an interesting way:
