Which make and type is this Boombox?

I'm looking for some more information of this Boombox used in the Return of the Living Dead.

It's a Viking Eaton spin off but it differs from a Viking/Siemens when you look at the door for the tape. It has a name or logo in the left top corner.

Another difference are the chroom 'vents' left and right of the channel selector. It's a style that is different compared to Viking/Siemens.



So, which brand also produced this type of Boombox?

And...if anybody would have an exact version I'm interested in buying.

Very close, the chroom inserts are the same but the logo on the tape door is still different.

I've already compared with Viking, Siemens, Yoko, Nippon, Audiologic and now Conic and Ambassador.

Which other companies distrubuted this model???

None of those match though. The Yoko, Siemens, Clairtone (model 7974) and Nippon all have the wrong kind of meter above the deck.
The Eaton/Viking doesn't have the right tweeters

Logo on the tape door is different

CCE, Conic, Ambassador are all close. They have the right chroom inserts.

Still the correct brand is undisclosed.

The Boombox in the movie was recorded in 1984 in California. Don't know if that narrows it down?

This is the best close up I canmake from the DVD. Looks like a 4 letter word starting with 'G' or 'C'

I can't tell from this low-res screenshot, might be out of focus in the movie, but worth a check. Much closer to the camera than the scene you're clipping from

It's possible that the studio covered the real brand name with a fake one

Found a copy of the scene. I captured all the frames where it was visible.
I think it's a Conic with tape over the logo, with "C:51" or "6:51" written on it.
The tape's top and bottom edges are parallel, but the sides are slightly uneven/different angles

Possible but very unlikely since it was a very low budget movie and the brand was never visual or read-able in any shots.
