I remember seeing the Crown 5100 in local electric shops for £99.99 in about 87ish but being about 14 there was no chance of getting one :'-( ive seen these go on ebay a few time for nearly double that. Also seen Conion c100 go recently for nearly £250 and 777's for about the same but no idea how much these were when new, or what year :hmmm:

Safe to say all Lasonics fall into this. They weren't expensive when new but in nice shape they can bring 2 to 3 times their original sales price.

777s were about $800 new and bring about $400 max.
Wheelies were $600 new and bring atleast that and up to $1k.
Realistic SCR-8 were $250 new and go from $9.99 to $100 now.
Discolites were probably only a few hundred back in the day but have sold for $1400 recently :-O .

To be fair you almost have to do an inflation adjustment...

Maybe so but if you do that then I doubt any box exceeds it's adjusted price.
Well maybe that wacky Discolite still might. :hmmm:

i remember the gf777 being blown out at london drugs up here for 189 dollars and desperately trying to find the money to buy one but not being able too.
i also seem to recall the big conions also being sold for about 250 dollars or so at zellers and fedco .
never saw any of the discolites in the stores up here. wait maybe at zellers. mostly tho those discolite boxes were given aways as fairground prizes here during the summer.

Interesting point there Bill! Similar situation happened down here with Wheely/JC2000/Master Blasters.
Never saw one in a store, but did see them at local carnivals as prizes in the very early 90s.

Rock On.

I don´t know if thats true for electronics. Usually this stuff gets cheaper over the years because technology improves and amortization of development costs.
Okay its hard to say because they usually don´t continue a model unchanged for a long time period.
But a good example is a Technics 1200 MK2 turntable that is in production for 32 years now without any changes.
I bought mine in 1999 for ~900DM and they sold for ~450EUR (900DM) in the last 5 years. -> http://geizhals.at/?phist=13870&age=2000
Only over the last year the price went up but thats because of the rumors they wont produce it any longer and because they no longer ship enough to europe.
I mean they are still handbuild and got a strong fanbase...
It would be cool to have a graph that shows the price trend for the whole time preiod.
I couldn´t even find the original price in 1978 :(
