I'm Looking to swap out the old paper cones on my discolite! (dry rotted)
Where can I find good cheap($10-$12 each) speakers for it? surfing eBay with no luck! Any help would be appreciated!

I would recommend not to mess around with speakers :nonono:
Or are they not holding on anymore/broken somehow?
Photo please! :-)

You won't find NOS speaker replacements for a Discolite. You'll need to find good speakers from another Discolite. Even then, you'll have to know which style speakers your Discolite has.

Discolite speakers were made in at least two different styles:

1) Bulbs were attached to back case and went up through the center of the speakers

2) Bulbs were attached up through and directly to the speaker housing

Good luck with your search.

Also try partsexpress.com.
Take one of the speakers you need out to measure it. find one with the similar dimensions and specs( watts and impedance.)

Thanks for the info!! The actual speaker In this discolite does not have any lights in them! The LEDs are in tje grille and all around the speakers! guess that makes it easier!! the outer ring of one of the speakers is torn a bit. So I'm replacing all 4 with nicer speakers! They are only 10watts!! WTF..I never heard 10watts sound so good!!(4OHM) damn, they really do sound great for 10w speakers!! They look wimpy as he'll too! Just plain old paper cones!!
I was pounding the hell out of it The other day then I noticed the sound getting "crackly" on one side!
this thing prolly hasn't been plugged in in 20+years before I got it..would higher wattage speakers say 40-60watts sound better? one would think so. OR should I repair these? They are not cracked that bad! if it's gonna make my radio sound like **** by replacing the speakers I'll just keep it original! What do you guys think?

If its just the surround , I would refoam them. It's not that difficult to do and there are a lot of YouTube view that show how to do it. Do a search for refoam kits there are a bunch of places that sell em online. All you need are the dimensions of the speaker.
If its a voice coil get new speakers.

problem with the discolites is that you cant refoam cuz the entire speaker is paper, surround and all, so best thing is to replacethem with what you can find. :sadno:

The pic that krakermost posted looks like it has a fabric surround and can be replaced. Goodluck either way you decide to go.

if i had $10 to spend on replacement speakers and the tear was pretty small, i would shoe goo or silcone the tear very thinly and look forward to refoaming some day...

For about nine bucks a piece you can get some great replacements online at partsexpress.com. Check out the jamos you can glue your chrome dustcaps on to them and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference cosmetically.
But the sound from the new drivers wil be great.

Even if the entire speaker including surround is paper, you can still refoam. Simply carefully cut off the edge and install a new surround.
