Hi all. This is my first post to Boomboxery. I post also on "that other site" so some of you might know me from there. Or not. Anyway, I picked up a sweet JVC PC-55JW today from THAFUZZ down in Eugene (I am in Portland). First off let me tell you that Adam is a really cool guy and he even promised to copy some tapes for me. Great guy all around and I really enjoyed my trip to Eugene. Even had a nice lunch downtown before heading back to PDX.

Anyway, on to the topic at hand. OK, I am mainly a home stereo kind of guy but I love some of the higher end compo boxes that I have seen online and always thought it would be great to get one of the nicer ones (or one of the big Panasonics with the wood sides) and incorporate it into a home system. Well I did just that.

The good thing about the JVC is that it has A LOT of inputs/outputs to work with. I like that because I have lots of gear :-D I also was looking for a box that had Dolby C noise reduction as I listen to a lot of tapes and most of my pre-recorded ones are recorded in C. Another plus is that my Sansui EQ has lots of inputs on back for my other tape equipment and other components. Plus I have a tape deck switch box which can control 3 or 4 decks through one set of in's/out's. So basically I have 5 components running into the JVC, not to mention my Blu-Ray player for watching movies (I still have to figure out how to hook up my rear speakers).

I am ditching the JVC speakers for now (well, not literally) for my nice Infinity's. The thing sounds really good and has adequate power for what I need. And I really dig the look and the cool LCD display (OK I am a sucker for gimmicks I admit!). I hope you all like the pics. I also have a Sony Elcaset deck underneath the cabinet where the JVC sits upon. Elcaset is like a weird offspring of cassette tapes and reel to reel tapes. But with excellent fidelity. But they are fidgety sometimes :'-(

Well I look forward to reading the posts here and hi to everyone in Boomboxery land :-)

Hey Luke! Glad to have met You in person and hang out. I was hesitant to let that JVC go but I'm very happy it will be cherished and enjoyed the way it was meant to be. Welcome aboard here too. I'll get those copies for you. Best wishes to You and your girl
