Sorry to be dumb here, but what is the go with these guys...

Have they just hoarded boxes, and are now selling them off? Are they any good?

it's a roll of the dice.
I'd say that over the years it seems to be a about 75-80% happy item transaction.
I believe a lot these were used as home stereos in China and many thousands of them were sold.

The most recent buyer of these from there was Mmcodomino and his experience wasn't exactly favourable!

Doing a search here for 'China 777' will give you some interesting reading!

Rock On.

for me its not worth the risk even if i did play the ebay game.
i mean i would say that the 25 percent of the time some of these guys pull a fast one just isnt worth it.
however there are some very good chinese vendors.

henrytai and peppin come to mind. i do not know of many people ho had terrible times with them.

As bill said it's a roll of the dice so the question is do you feel lucky? Can you afford the risk if a box shows up significantly not as described? If you don't feel comfortable taking the risk then don't do it. Sure you'll be happy if it shows up in nice shape but if it shows up trashed then what?

I'll admit I've wanted to pull the trigger a number of times but on second thought decided I didn't need one of those boxes bad enough to risk throwing away $400 or more. :nonono:

one thing i seem to remember is china now has extremely cheap shipping on things. they also have endeavored to get the items sent to the people buying them in a fixed ammount of time.
i seem to remember reading a blurb on how it has become a matter of national pride to have chinas post service the best in the world.
so this being said when you see the shipping costs on a lot of these boxes they have been heavily inflated.
i am not completely sure but i would venture to guess these guys make a lot of money off of just shipping mark ups.
