Yesterday I got this Zenith Royal 2000...for FREE!

I know, not a boombox but for being pushed with just 500mW (0.5), it can kick some bass!

What's the most you've bargained for?

That's a beautiful and clean radio there, congrats! I have found radios for cheap but if you have to put hours of cleaning and repairing into it, is it still a bargain? ;)

Also not a boombox but this summer I found a Sony D-Z555 Discman on the flea market – for 2 Euros. It is a little scratched up and the battery cover is missing (... anybody?!) but it was fully working from the start. So yeah, I have used up my bargain credit I guess ...

if anybody remembers Autobot 1984 from Puerto Rico that was who I bought it from and a great guy. not only that the guy had to pack and ship it twice because the first time was too big to go through customs so I told him to do what you got to do and he did it great.

Had most of my m90's for £250.....when a box becomes 10x what it's worth it's not worth buying and the m90 is also my fave box along with the jvc pc55

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that listing on eBay with a $250 buy it now in free shipping for an m90 I just didn't hesitate especially seeing that Autobot was the seller. I think when he sold that box he was just done with the collecting thing and just wanted to get rid of it as fast as he could. and back then m90s weren't selling for $2,000 they were selling more like for $500 to 1,000.

Sharp GF-9494 for free, needs some love and parts, but does work, which is surprising as it sat under a mates stairs for 20 years with a full set of batteries in it!

Not boombox related, but I bought my Sony TPS-L2 at an antiques fair for £6!

Only other bargain I've ever really found, again not boombox related, but a Commodore P500 computer at a boot sale for £4. Last one just sold on eBay for £3500!

easily my cheapest score was a perfectly functioning M90....found in my neighbours garage after he invited me over to check out some woodworking he was doing. I offered money for it but he was glad to get rid of it as it just sat on the shelf.
Right. Next. Door....for years!

How much does replacing a belt usually cost?
I paid a shop $100. I was scared to open them back then. Now out of necessity I fix them myself. 90% of the time the problem is fixed with new belts and some contact cleaner in the function switches and record bar. I just go slow and take pictures.

Free Sharp GF-9696 found in a roadside pile of household garbage. Needed a tonne of work but now fully working and sounds great!
