one of the speakers in my 920 are at less of a volume than the other.
this was not the case yesterday.
Is there something I should spray with D-oxit to rectify this problem?

Hang on, time out here. Before you begin spraying blindly, keep in mind that the Sanyo MX-920 is unique in that many of the controls you see on the front panel isn't really located on or near the front panel. Sanyo used a new mechanism with a plastic sheathed stainless steel strip that sides and controls a remotely mounted switch. Therefore, spraying cleaner through the front may serve no more purpose than to aerosolize the solvent airborne into the interior chamber and coat everything including the complex cassette mechanism below..

In other words, the switch you see at the front panel may actually be just a mechanical lever tethered to a flat stainless cable that actuates a remotely mounted switch and spraying the solvent will NOT actually clean the control you intend to.

Do it the right way -- disassemble the Sanyo and clean selectively instead.

Quite right. My 920 vocabulary only includes the Sanyo so I forget there are other boomboxes using that model number. :-)

Quite true friends.
Thanks anyway Super Duper.
Yes as you follow the story, my once Minty fresh Lasonic breaks down before my eyes.
It seemed like such a solid box, when I opened it up I found the cheapest aluminum screws.
Screws so cheep, they don't even sell them at a hardware store.

So my newly broken function switch may be at the root of this problem huh?
And yes, my record bar did seem to cause a scratchy sound to one of the speakers.
should I spray the record bar?
