I doubt it  Do you get FM signal :hmmm: if so maybe the stereo tuning capacitor is out of adjustment. ;-) it's happened to me on my Lasonic trc975 and conion c100...Norm helped me to pinpoint and adjust... As for the part it looks like a bracket of some sort :hmmm: good luck

check the stereo seperation pot ,, look for a strong local station that you can adjust this pot untill the led comes on ,, normally when the radio is in stereo you will hear a small hiss in the background so if are hearing that when you cycle the stereo mono switch more than likely the led or a bad connection... if you dont get that hiss even if you cycle the switch back and forth then you have a more in depth problem possibly at the componet level ,normaly just adjusting the pot should bring back the radio to stereo :-) :-)

I know exactly what that is.

One of your sliders had failed and that part appears to be from a stereo slider (so 1 of the 2 channels is probably still working). While it would not affect your FM stereo reception per se, depending upon which slider it is, you will probably notice that either the bass or treble on one channel is non responsive (check them separately) or it could be a different slider since those Sharps have so many.

But in answer to your question -- that is an internal slider feeler that has fallen off of an Alps slide potentiometer. A common problem with those cheapy Alps controls. To fix it, you will have to remove and rebuild your slider.

As for your FM not capturing stereo -- your 19khz pilot signal adjustment has probably drifted from original setting and is no longer centered at 19khz.

Try this to correct that:
