I know this isn't really a boombox topic but I think boomboxes and headphones go together. For me sometimes hearing every component of the music means putting on a good set of headphones and plugging them in to a powerful receiver and letting it rip. Even on lower settings it truly is the best listining environment for audiophile quality listening. When at home my favorite headphones are my Sennheiser HD800's...they have deep solid bass reproduction and the sound quality is simply amazing...but they don't come cheap ($1400). When using the mp3 I have 2 sets of headphones: Sennheiser PX-100's for over the ear listening and Sennheiser CX-500 for in ear isolation. Both are excellent portable phones with excellent clarity and surprisingly deep bass and crisp highs and they are both very reasonably priced ($50-$120) on most websites. You will not find a better headphone in that price range.

I used to rock out with the Sony MDR-V6 headphones, but now I do my listening with the Sennheiser PX-100 cans - super smooth and clean sound.

I've been wanting to get the Bayerdynamics DT770
Apparently they're pretty good at reproducing bass.
A seperate headphone Tube or DAC amp would be nice too. I'll get some soon.

Any one here of the $300 Monster - Beats by Dr. Dre powered headphones? Those rattle your head sound pretty good at the kiosk at Bestbuy.

sony cheap phones like,

5 dolla type

like these

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4 ... AA280_.jpg

but all black, dont state the model.

about 5 years old.

and some thomson wireless.

even though i use my SONY while producing LOL

imagine, a world class producer, using these phones ehehehhe.

i used to have some senheiser, they last me for 5 years or so, then i busted the head clip,

and glued it, along with some jack reparings, for loose connections, and they ended up so full of tape,

i started using the thomsons. anyway i still have them, they sounded really good, i guess

they had ' xtra bass ' denomination or something on them.

I thought about getting a some porta pro's but what I've been reading lately is people complaining that they aren't the same as they used to be (I.E. not as good) so I'm not sure. :hmmm:
