Hi Guys. What does RIF A-B mean on the back of the rear of a Hitachi TRK.
Also I thought the Hitachi Auto Stop worked on rewind/fast forward also, but doesn't, and left the Boombox in rewind mode while out :(. While the motor still be ok? :(.
Thanks Guys

It's an oscillator switch that people used if they were trying to record AM radio.

Thx Rehi. Any idea if I knackered the motor leaving it in rewind/fast forward mode?. Thought they auto switched off when finished :(.

Be easier to explain if we knew which Hitachi it is. Auto stop works differently on fully auto decks than mechanical decks 😉

Sorry guys hitachi 3d80. Yes I didn't know there were full and semi auto. It still plays and left it about 30 mins :(. I've just bought it for my son, and don't want to keep it on at him, if it not to bad to leave stuck on for a short while, or if you have to switch it off straight away. Thx guys.

It's a mechanical deck and most auto stop mechs are just a plastic tab that sticks out and once tape reaches end of reel the tape tightens and pushes the tab to auto stop. Looks like this pic... But it's not always this way.
