Hey guys. Won an auction for an old Randix box, not knowing anything about the box itself. The model number (as shown in pictures) is SCR2823. Anyway, Just wondering if anyone could tell me more about this box or Randix in general. I looked around but could not find much info. It looks like it's an AKA brand, but what for? Thanks.

Knows anyone the purpose why some manufacturers choose to sell the same products under so many different brandnames? Has it to do with the countries where they are being sold?(for instance the brandname is a not so nice word in the language from the country where it is gonna be sold?)

Btw Gamefool congratzzz with your nice box!

So it got here in the mail today (first vintage boombox I've ever owned, btw), and it's so cool! Been fooling around with cassettes and the radio for like 2 hours now. one question though:
Next to the LED meter is another LED labeled "FM Stereo". It seems to only light up when I am listening to FM (duh) and very high percussive sounds come through (like high hats, snare drums, and tambourines). This is also accompanied by a bit of distortion, though only of those sounds. I know there are some boxes that have lights that indicate when you have found a strong signal, but mine is flashing only briefly when the aforementioned sounds occur. Anyone know why this could be? Sorry if this is a stupid question, it is my first box after all though! WHOO!

I will put up detailed pics or a video later. Thanks folks.

This could be the MPX potentio-meter on the tuner-board that has to be a little bit turned so the tuner can receive the 19 khz tone that stereo transmitters are transmitting together with the normal frequency(like 98.1 for instance) to broadcast in stereo. It has helped me several times to get things going like they should.
