Hi Guys,
Well I've been tempted lately to get one of those modern sub-$100 BT speakers to get that modern bassy sound (at least at low-medium volume levels). Did I buy one?? Of course not - they're over priced junk!
So what did I get? A late 90s egg!!
I know what you're thinking but stay with me. This is no ordinary egg. It's a pretty solidly built thing - probably around 6-7 kilos with batteries onboard.
How about:
10 watts RMS per channel?
Twin full logic decks (both auto reverse)?
Electronic tape deck door releases?
CD player with motorised tray?
Digital AM/FM tuner with presets?
Full function remote?
A 3.5mm proper AUX in?
5 preset equaliser settings?
'Sound Virtualizer' wide mode + bass reflex system?
High quality and beefy 6 ohm drivers?
Yep, this Panasonic RX-ED50 is packed to the gills with useful features.
It only needs 8 Ds + 4AAs to rock.
Picked up my slightly rough but fully working example on Gumtree for $45 with local pickup - (with remote). I mentioned that as the remote is essential for access to some features.
So for indoor use when sound quality is important, this Panny is really impressing the hell out of me!! It's a good way to get high quality MP3 or CD tracks onto chrome or metal tapes.
You certainly don't get much in modern tech for $45 AUD!

Beefy magnets on those drivers!!

So if you want something compact that plays/records tapes, CD and AUX in + AM/FM digital tuner and will give your classics a rest, it's an option I can recommend (for indoor use where people can't see what you're cranking).
Thanks,
James.....
