Had a decent weekend with three new boxes :-) I wish I could find some midsize-large boxes though... I'm starting to get alot of small-medium boxes now!

Never done a poll before so had to try it  haha

Pretty dirty Toshiba. I think it will clean up pretty good though!

Really like the grills on this one! Has a weird power cord though, connected straight to the box so cord can't be removed

Nice finds joel

The cord is not a problem, there is a separate section next to the battery compartment for storing cables.
Many of them have such a way cable management. ;-)

Yeah but on this one the plug is too fat to fit! :-O Guess I could change the plug to one of the thinner ones...

On the toshiba as soon as I put in batteries or plug it into the wall the cassette motor starts to vibrate and make loud noises (sounds like a broken computer hard drive, and it's coming from the cassette motor NOT the speakers). Starts making noises directly when I hook it up so no matter if I have the switch on AUX, Radio or caseete/off the motor is working... Also the radio does play but it plays VERY quietly, balance, treble and bass controls all work as well but it's all very quite :hmmm:

Congrats. Great scores. Love the toshiba. The problem sounds like the tape compartment is stuck on "play" mode and this bypass any other function. Can be from bad belt, mechanic failure or some circuit issue. Its common problem whit a lot of boxes and is not so bad sometimes.
O yea - DIBS on the Toshiba

Thanks! It's 1 to1 in the poll so far :-P haha

Ok I have no idea what to do with it if it is circuit failure  Too bad because evrything else seems to be working really...
DIBS ay? So you have any VU boxes you wanna trade for it? :angelic:

The Toshiba feels like a better quality build than the panny, but on the other hand the panny is working perfectly aside from a slow tape (probably just the belt...)
It's funny how the cheaper boxes often don't have issues! I guess maybe the ones that did got thrown away...

Thanks BBBILL! I opened it up but it wasn't obvious to me how it should be manually turned? :hmmm:
Could you be more specific about what needs to be turned? Thanks for the help!

Should be a large silver weighted metal wheel but it has to be turned right direction so you may have to test directions...In wrong direction wheel should come to a halt...In right direction you should hear a click which means deck has powered off manually :-D
