Why do you never see any M90s coming from China??The majority of them always seem to be Sharp or Sanyo.
It's overwhelmingly Sharp and Sanyo. I wonder if other companies just didn't do business in China or maybe did very little.

My buddy in china sent me lots of pics of a wide variety of pioneers, sony, and of course sanyo and sharp's. I suspect sanyo and sharp just pumped more in than anyone else, but there are other models around china.
problem with china is they really don't take into account the dollar value of risk in dealing with them. They see a US box selling for $499 and believe they should get $499 (they do subsidize delivery...) but the language, transit and recourse leaves most of us far more skittish than dealing with US based sellers.
Plus i was on a few choice boxes, was shipping to my friend but the deal and condition started changing so i bagged it.
If you are going to gamble with china there has to be some possibility of gain (bargain) in it, not just the price you would pay if bought locally...
I suspect we will continue to see stacks of those wrapped in plastic in china...they see them as static commodities rather than price/ condition sensitive obsessions for a group of wackos

i think maybe the reason you see more sharps than jvc boxes in china is a matter of price point.
i could be wrong but i seem to remember the sharp boxes being less money to purchase than jvc when they were new.
also did hong kong produce sharp products for a while.
i know that hong kong was still a british colony back then but maybe the logistics of it had something to do with it i dont know.
i do know radios were a very important part of chinas information network i am thinking it is possible many of these big sharps could have been purchased in bulk for government use. i mean we are talking about the eighties and if i remember correctly a doctor in china was earning about fifty dollars a month back then.
