there were dinasaurs --
and these turtles --only the turtles survived :-O

last nite --on our beach - a little one came up to lay her eggs -
most of them are over twice this big --like exactly the size and shape of 60s VWs

they dont look too smart - right !! :-) :hmmm:

except --scientists track them --
they travel all over the world -
and then come back to the exact same spot on the same beach -
every year :-O :-O :-O

go figure :-D :-) :breakdance:

here is the respect tradition//rules-----

during the 1/2 hour or so --while they swim up to the beach -
and find their spot -- to dig out - and lay their eggs --

we all stay about 20 feet away -- no lights :nonono:

then --when they are all done - and on their way back to the sea -
its cool to touch them and take pictures and play boomers :thumbsup: :-) :-)

My wife would absolutely flip out if she got to see that. :-) Even better would be seeing hundreds of baby turtles making their way to the ocean.

in exactly 60 days -and during the daylight --
the eggs hatch --
and the smart little baby turtles ( about 3 inches)
have the instinct to crawl directlly to the ocean :yes:

and they swim like old pros !!! :-O :surf: :surf:

btw --this is not a rare event --
we have about 50 marked nests in our 70 yards of beach this season

Thats pretty cool Ira. Right on your beach huh?
Do you help the baby turtles in any way, i.e. scare away birds and other prey?

most of them make it on their own -- :thumbsup:
some babies have real bad luck :'-( :thumbsdown:

and some -- we do help :angelic:

I heard that they like Sharp boomboxes and they like The Turtles,and yes even a little Hannah Montana but like soothing Henry Mancini music the best-Like The Pink Panther Theme!!
