Heads up

This seller (rennyhelen82) is shill bidding the item up (Aiwa TPR-950) the item sold to a zero feeback bidder (x***a) and was relisted straight away, now it is relisted the same zero feedback bidder (x***a) is in the lead. If you look at the bid history, the zero feeback bidder (x***a) has only bids across this sellers items and nothing else

:hmmm: should we all email the seller about the shill bidding and see what they say, it would be hard for them to refute this.

Just thought I should let people know that this seller is dodgy.

The item is not linked as it is an active listing but this is the item number (330686120240) for the first (finished) listing, if you want to check the bid history

I have just sent this

Hi

I was considering bidding on this unit but when I have checked the bidding history and there seems to be something dodgy going on. The unit sold to bidder x***a then was relisted, fair enough this can happen, but now the same bidder is bidding again and has only bid on your items, and a number of them.

Can you clarify what is going on as I am hesitant to bid on the item for the above reasons.

Regards

Will post up their response if I get one

eBay has a mechanism for reporting shill bidding. You should probably just report it if you are fairly certain. If more than 1 person reports this, the auction likely will be shut down and hopefully the seller will get the idea that this type of behaviour does not go unnoticed and is not acceptable.

So, i received this back

The guy that has bid on my items is a customer of mine, that i have just started dealing with as i have just gotten a few connections to get old things and sell them on ebay.

This item, the radio was listed prevously as its my husbands, and he was not happy with the final price. There was an argument about this as i said to him that i dont think there worth hundreds of dollars and i am not going to list something under my name if he cant trade fair as i enjoy selling on here.

Never the less, we have relisted this item as i have won the argument that whatever it goes for it goes. The person has bid on my stamp collection as they are not far from me and sell at our local markets nearby and is interested when i get my stuff as i have connections through the newspaper to get things, that he can pick them up from me. However i dont trust him a whole lot to make bargans with me, and i could be selling myself cheap so i list them on ebay and told him to bid with the others.

I understand your relunctant to bid, the choice is yours, i feel confident in what i am doing and there is no dodgy behaviour, if you do want to investigate further you can contact ebay, i believe its called 'BID BUMPING'. It states in the policy if you have friends or relatives who wish to buy your items it is best you create a BUY IT NOW and not ask them to bid, however he is not what i would call a dear friend of mine just more of a business connection i have met.

I will leave it with you and i appreciate your passion in trying to determine what has gone on, you can reply back to me i am more than happy to answer you with anymore questions.

Interesting, the item has been cancelled now and is no longer available

shill bidding by any other name, is still just that. I think she realizes that people are keen to their unscrupulous selling practices and I don't believe 1/2 of what she is saying anyhow. No matter, when something goes up, arguing with the spouse afterwards when the auction has concluded successfully is not a a valid reason to not follow through. That she says the "friend" was ok with not following through with the sale already tells me that it's not a fair playing field. Meaning, if YOU win for high price, you need to follow through. But toss in the "friend" with the rest of the bidders and if dear "friend" wins, then they can try again???

Such a coincidence that the same person who bids on her stamp collection would ALSO be interested in boomboxes. I don't buy it.

This seems to be happening more often for some reason. Especially on antique and vintage items.

My father had the same issue with MG parts for his '70's convertible. Every time the same bidder would crop up, ramp up the price and then becomes "a non paying bidder" and back up to Ebay it goes...until more real bidders joined in.
