I own this 88' Firebird Formula and use to own this 03' Yamaha Vstar. I gave up the Yamaha 2.5 years ago because of cost to own. My brother whom took over the bike only put 500 miles on it. The bike actually is mint with 5500 miles. The Firebird is very clean inside and out and has 120,000 original miles and was garage kept up until 2 years ago and has took 2nd place in car show. The bike is now paid off and my brother and I have talked about trading the bike for the car :hmmm: So I could really use any and all opinions if I should move forward with trade  here are some pics of both. The Firebird at a car show and the only pic I have at this time of bike.... Thanks :-D

Hi bill, look up Kelly blue boom values on both of these.
Also look up corresponding similar values on craigslist and what
they are worth.
I just don't know enough about bike values to help you here.
But I'n my guess that Formula is worth around 3,500-4,500 but I'm guessing.
Do some research and look at similar vehicles and bikes.
Good luck! :hmmm:

Hey Bill,I would trade back if you think you want the bike worse than the Firebird. :hmmm: :angelic:
If you don't drive the car much why not get the bike back?
I know you have told me a few times how much you miss your bike.
Also the bike is cheaper to drive than the Firebird. :-)
Especially since now it's paid off.......
I vote for the trade.
Plus, maybe we can go riding together this summer,LOL!

Used motorcycles don't hold their value very well unless they're Harleys, Ducatis or MV's

I can guarantee the car would bring in more $$ than the bike

Thanks so far for all your opinions  To me though it's not about the dollar amount because since both vehicles were originally mine my brother has the understanding that he can't sell either from under me and that I get 1st dibs. He told me he had a possible buyer for bike a few months ago and I said hell no. If anything I would pay him monthly to get bike back. He did say that if we traded the car would stay at my place because he has no place to put it. The bike and car are worth about the same in value approximately $4000. I tried selling car last year for $4300 and no takers because of economy. so in essence the value of either is not in question.

It's more or less thinking of which is cooler to have :hmmm: This is my biggest concern. On one hand bike is cool to ride but can only give each of my kids a ride at one time where as car they can all go plus I can take car to shows. I don't ride or drive either that much.

I owned the bike since new in 2003 and only put 5000 miles on it. The car I've owned since 2009 and have put maybe 20000 on it because I drove it to Oklahoma :-/

So now maybe you can see my dilemma :hmmm:

For me Bill it's a no brained!
Keep the Formula!
You can go camping, not worry about rain, haul boomboxes and it's
fast if you have the 5.7 if it's the 5.0 then I bet mileage isn't bad!
Hope you keep the bird!

There is more here than just the value between the bike and the car.
If Bill is looking to sell the car then yes I would sell the car rather than trade.
He would probably make more money.
But If he is looking to get his bike back so he can ride again, then I would trade.
Especially if you aren't really in "Love" with the Firebird anymore.
Just my 2 cents........... :angelic:

See thats just it Scott, I love having both  But I know I have to choose one or the other...If I could afford it i would pay my brother the $1500 he wants for the bike and keep both, but right now I just cant afford both :sadno:
