Walking around with a BBX, noise or pure fun?

I don't play mine super loud when we walk through town, but just enough to get peoples attention. The SCR-8 is a great carry-type box and it has metal hooks for a strap if you have one. Great sound, and visually stimulating - can't go wrong taking it with ya.

Next to the J-1 Super Jumbo, that's the best set of LED meters on any box!

I don't walk around with my boxes very often but I play them outside on a regular basis. I am often at the basketball court, park, or even in front of my house when washing my car I have a boombox with me. I always keep my red M70 in the back seat of the car in case I want to have lunch in the park and listen to music. I never leave home without a boombox...and I play them loud but not offensively loud. My usual outdoor boxes of choice are my M70's and M90...and I might add they are pure fun in public, most people get a kick out of seeing them and are surprised by the volume and good sound.

It was quite amusing this morning on my walk to work.

I popped into the local supermarket on the way and, as always, turned the volume down a bit as I usually do.

As I was waiting to be served at the counter the store manager came up to me and said: 'It's not loud enough, Rick! You gotta crank it up!!"

So the RISING was cranked; blasting some french house throughout the front of the supermarket much to his pleasure and amusement.

..and of course no one could complain as the store manager had just requested it!

FUZ, I totally agree with you....The SCR8 is a great carrying size, Not all of us have enough BALLS to carry around a J1 (Mono!!!) or a TRC-975 (GLUE!!!)

Maybe it's time to hit the streets with the 777!

I love my boomboxes, but I'm a painfully self-conscious person who'll do anything NOT to draw attention to myself. That pretty much rules out carrying them around (much less blasting them) in public. I'm proud of my collection, but to the uninitiated, boomers are curiosities from another era that invite closer inspection. Not something you want to have with you when your goal is to blend in with the crowd.

I will attempt to carry the 777 next time, but just walking out to the porch with it makes my arm tired. I can't imagine carrying this big boomer for a mile or 2.

Good point! At least I'm out in the 'burbs, so the only shots I'd probably have to take would be wise cracks shouted at me from passing cars. On the other hand, if I decided to take a stroll a few miles east of here... Ever heard of a boombox-jacking??

i tell you that you might not see me on the streets but my boxes always end up with me on those special occations whether it be a birthday party a baby shower, graduation party and special events,, but you should see the faces of the people when they see my boxes the mayority always remember the 80s and the ghettoblaster,,, i am hoping for some of these old company beside lasonic to really throw some newer boxes out there,,, btw that was an excellent picture for you and your wife to enjoy.......
