Just picked this up last night from a old chap that really didn't know what he had. Found that it was working, with just a missing slider, and a crack on the back.

Record deck working fine, tape amazing.

Only thing is that the buttons are stiff, and the play button for the record deck is not moving at all. Looks like I will have to take it apart. If anyone has any pics of that I would be grateful.

awesome, all you have to do is the remove the case screws ,open the tape deck and pull off the sliders ,pull the front off , no wires involved . the deck is super easy to get to and work on , the turntable remains mounted while you pull the front off , or you can remove it first ,either way works.

Lots of plugs come with the territory.

Opened up the VZ tonight, and checked the buttons. Looks like someone had played around before. The blue play button was pushed in, but was upside down.

So pushed it out and cleaned it, and dabbed a little grease on the body of the button. Slid it in and it fine :-)

Now the only thing is the ariel that is broken and getting it off is a pig as the screw has been chewed out (looks like I will have to drill it)

If the screw at the knuckle is chewed, can you not take out the whole aerial from the base instead? That way, you could easily clamp the knuckle in a vice to grind a decent slot in it or replace the whole thing instead. ;-)
