Found this poor VZ2000 on Ebay for a low BIN, it was in a bad way.
For the price condition I was surprised it even powered up, but it did.
Just about everything you can break if you don't know how to take these apart and put back together again was broken.
Here's the list:
Power switch and button
Cassette tray
Headphone and mic board
The tape select button is missing and someone has snapped the switch off leaving it stuck in tape mode, I managed to free and maually deselect this so I could test the other functions.
Also the dial chord was missing, but I found the pointer inside so I have restrung this.
The other important things missing are the turntable suspension springs and mounts :'-( .
Oh it's also missing the cover for tonearm B
What I have done so far.
Big clean up of the front and turntable, taken the speakers apart and cleaned out a lot of muck.
Casssette deck rebelted and works well.
Turntable rebelted and adjusted tonearms now working, only one good stylus though.
Tuner works ok.
Not alot I can do with the back except paint it.
Anyway here's some pictures, I'll post the parts needed in the wanted section I hope to get this 100% functional :hmmm:

Update on the VZ, I have managed to repair the broken tape select switch, so just need a button moved the FM button for now.

Also repaired the volume pot when I took it apart there was a crack in the right channel board and damage to the tracks, glued the board and repaired the tracks with conductive graphite paint. It's great to have both channels back.

So with the kind offer of turntable suspension springs and mounts from JVC Floyd, it will be well on the way to a full recovery.

Great work. I saw that VZ 2000 just before it sold and was umming and ahhing over getting it as a spares source for mine, which needs a new turntable PCB. But I was suspicious from the photos on eBay that it might have been stripped for parts already and therefore that the PCB I needed would be missing, so I passed on it. Which was the right move, since it clearly went instead to someone with the skills to put it to better use.

Kind of jealous though that it turns out that the turntable PCB was intact in it after all by the sounds of it heh

Update on the VZ, and a big big thankyou to "JVC Floyd" who very kindly sent me the springs and mounting plates for the record deck, which is fitted back in properly now and works very well. So the resto is coming along nicely just need to sort out a power switch and the missing FM select button and it will look nice from the front, then I will start sorting out the cosmetic issues.
