Hi everyone I’m new to restoring Boomboxes so your help would be appreciated, I’m just restoring my first boombox a sharp vz2000 but I’ve got no sound from the left speaker channel,I’ve tested the speaker itself and it’s ok, so where do I go from here? Any help would be appreciated, thanks Ade

Clean the function switch (radio/tape/phono/line in) with Deoxit Faderlube F5.
Clean all switches.
Try headphones and see if you hear from the left channel.

These have an internal/external speaker switch on the back . Sometimes if the switch is not all the way to one side it will cause the sound issues.

Thanks guys for your suggestions, I will try them out , when I’m not working, could it also be the left amp chip HC1392? Cheers Ade

If I remember correctly the ha1392 chips are wired up slightly differently and not a left channel chip and right channel chip. Each chip has 2 amps. I can’t quite remember and don’t have the service manual to hand. But check what speakers are working I.e. double check whether both the main speaker and tweeter are both not working as pretty sure the left tweeter and main speaker go to different amps. If you have a completely dead left channel it is quite possible it is the balance knob as these are also common faults on these.try cleaning it first. It’s possible that one of the fingers in the potentiometer as come off. You can desolder the potentiometer and take it apart. Just be careful.
