Picked this up today in San Jose :-D Needs a good cleaning, neither of the tape decks work so they'll need fixing. But I really like this box. Radio works fine, and line in works fine. For some reason the sound from this box reminds me of old times. Hard to explain it, hard to explain the sound. This box sound like a boombox and I like it.
I guess I'm becoming somewhat of a JVC boombox collector.

Hey Milo bro!!! Really nice score!!! I really digg the round elements on the deck doors...
Btw I know San Jose, I lived in Palo Alto from '76 to '92... I never went to the San Jose Flea Market though, still exists???

Nice to meet you bro,

That's exactly where I picked this up Strānj! At the San Jose flea market, the worlds largest outdoor flea market. There's a petition going on right now to save this flea market. The owners want to sell it to a housing development. Many folk make their living from selling at this place. I go every so often and this is the second box I've found there.

Very nice find Milo. I had the JVC version a few years back I thought it was a very nice unit. Here is the one I had.

Are they frickin' NUTS????? They cannot get rid of the San José Flea Market man!!!! WTF??????? That tells you how much things have changed in this world since our innocent 80's... It's ALL about the money... Damn... Still can't believe it man. I'll look more into that petition thing from here...

Again, really nice looking box you scored man... how much was it (f I may ask)...

Peace bro...

That's sad, I know a lot of boxes have been bagged at this flea market. Some of mine came from this market by way of others selling me boxes. I hope the petition is successful but if big bucks are involved for another housing development I doubt if anything will stop it, "they" call it progress.

It is sad, I've gone to this since I was a young lad. The other one I grew up with in my hometown got turned into an elementary school. I hope it remains a place where people can go buy and sell everything from produce to boomboxes.

Skippy that red W300 is nice!! Is that yours?

I have one too - and yes, IMHO, they do sound they way a boombox should. But the version you have there, I'm thinking was meant for the japanese market? I know the red version was, but yours there, is exaclty the same as mine, except where your's has two silver buttons for AM/FM and the Mono/Stereo, mine has five buttons - including two short wave SW1 and SW2.
