The pictures came out so good
Im really happy that all you guys were down to contribute for these priceless memories of the days event out at Venice Beach! A huge thank you goes out to Nannette Ricaforte! I can't thank her enough for the awesome job she did with us that fine day.
My family and I rolled up around 12PM along with Dave Rivera, mancardo and Eldirtdino, and 6 of the fellas were already at the basketball courts attracting MUCH attention with thier Boomboxes. It was a warm 80 degrees day so the weather was PERFECT. Nannette and her boyfriend DJ Curse were already there as well when we walked up to the courts. We all met and greeted one another in true Boomboxery style, I met a few members for the 1st time including mancardo, milosancho, and rokbox2112. Once we settled in, We all tuned our blasters to the same station and Disturbed the peace! Thanks to milosancho for bringing the FM transmitter that made it all possible!
After the basketball courts we packed up and made our way to the graffiti walls. Heads were turning left and right as we all moved to the beat of the same drum. Cameras and cell phones galore! It was like the paparazzi LOL. People heard our radios from far and wide as we move locations. We made a pit stop along the way where we took some groups shots with our boomboxes lined up along a short wall, when our 1st "warning" came from Venice Beach police departments finest. No harm done but we were told by female Officer Rowe to keep moving because we were on a "public road". It aint a true trip to Venice Beach without a little police harassment! We then proceeded to the graffiti walls and did our thing there.
Once done at the graffiti walls, we headed towards the boardwalk. This is where the real fun began. We marched down towards the small covered benches while BLASTING our boomboxes LOUD! Nannette kept on capturing us with every step. We set up shop and took a much needed cool down break. The people LOVED it, we had every race, color, and religion moving to the beat of old school Hip Hop, snapping pictures, asking questions, and sharing memories! This is where the transmitter came in full effect once again. All the boomboxes playing the same song was so Dope!
Our final spot for the shoot was off to the side of the boardwalk where there wasn't so much foot traffic, so we lined up like a road block and let Nannette work her magic. This is where the 2nd visit from outstanding Officer Rowe and her partner came Lol. Was she following us? She asked if we had a permit for the photo shoot which of course we did NOT, and asked us to please not block the road. Personally I think she just wanted macdaddyfreshness' phone number
We told her we were done shooting and that we would disperse, good ol Venice P.D. Much Love!
After the final shots were taken we were all frickin starving! and thirsty, so we found a little corner hamburger stand and set up once again for some more Venice beach madness! Cameras o'plenty and smiling faces were everywhere. We literally took everyone back in time to when things were so simple and fun. We took turns blasting each boombox, ate, hydrated and just had an all around good time. It was a GREAT day of Boomboxery family, freak shows, loud music, sunshine, police harassment, and smiling faces. It was the best natural high for me, I think we all felt like kids again. I can't wait for the next one! Chris, theres no backing out next time
You HAVE TO BE THERE. Thanks again to EVERYONE for EVERYTHING! This meet will never be forgotten!
