When I play a tape on deck 2 the right side speakers and the red row of lights for the right side don't work, only hear it faintly when I put the volume up.
Anyone out there know why?
Thanks.

Hi. If i remember correctly the LEDs around the speakers are not related to left and right channels and all work together from a single little control
Board so your sound issue will be different to the lights.
Re these boxes they are very cheaply made and suffer from dry joints, cracked tracks etc. it will almost certainly be connection issues on the lights. I would take a close look at the circuit boards resolder all the pins and look for any cracks.
On mine I actually stripped all of the LED boards down completely and replaced all LED and little cables that join them together.

In terms right sound issue. This could be a number of things, I would check the balance knob see if that is working g properly if could need cleaning with some contact cleaner. Also check the board.
Again on my one I had some damaged tracks on the main circuit board and a previous owner had bodged a fixed by connecting the channels together essentially making it a mono box. But I managed to undo the bodge and repaired the tracks which fixed my issues.
Be prepared to do some soldering.

Good luck whilst cheap build quality and less than average sound these are great iconic boxes.

The lights I'm talking about are the red row of lights for the right side, not the led's around the right speakers.

Also ,anyone has or know of a owners/service manual?
Thanks.

These are the lights I mean, the right side don't work as with the right side speakers but only when I play a tape on deck 2, all the rest works fine.

If I understand right:
On radio - lights (meters) and speakers work fine.
On deck 1 - lights (meters) and speakers work fine.
On deck 2 - lights (meters) and speakers work only in left?
In this case the problem is in deck 2 maybe.
You must check cables for head of deck 2 and check record bar switch:

Yes that's correct, it's only when I put a tape in deck 2 that those lights and speakers on the right channel don't work, I can only hear it faintly when I push the volume up.
All the rest works fine, the radio, tape deck 1,all switches, sliders, knobs, buttons etc work as they should and all the other lights,LED's etc also work fine.
Both tape decks play tapes,Fast forward, Rewind, Pause, Record etc, they all work fine.

I haven't had this boombox long, less than a week,it's in pretty good condition for it's age,it was dusty and dirty when I got it, I first tested it all out to see if everything worked and that's when I noticed that problem with the right channel speakers and right channel lights not working with tape deck 2,so I've been cleaning it on the out side, then I opened it up,the front cover, and cleaned most of it inside and everything looks ok for the age of it.
I haven't done anything to it yet, only dust and dirt cleaning.
I now just want to fix this problem if I can so it will be fully functioning.
If anyone out there has a manual or schematics on it ,would greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all the replies I'm getting, appreciate it.

I don't know if there's supposed to be a capacitor on the right side just above the lights, like on the left?
Anyone know?

This was my mistake and I edit my answer - no capacitor on right side.
Watch carefully pictures here:

I doubt a service manual exists for this box, I’ve never seen one.

As suggested as it’s only deck 2 with the issue. I would check out the audio connection cable from deck 2 and on the board where it connects.
My guess would be on the circuit board, as I mentioned these are not well build boxes and circuit boards are poor.
I would trace through the tracks on the board from there Deck 2 plugs in.
From the pins check that you have continuity from one end to the other in sections with a meter.
I had several dry joints, broken tracks and hairline cracks on tracks on mine.

Yes, I thought so aswell after searching and seeing others that look the same.
I'm thinking it could be the tape head on tape deck 2 itself maybe?
Everything inside looks ok to me, I can't see anything burnt or broken or out of place, I tried cleaning the record bar and a few other switches with electronics cleaner spray etc. but hasn't changed anything, still the same.
I unplugged all the plugs and looked at the wiring and plugged them back in etc.
If it is the tape head, I'm thinking how would I test it, and where would I find one?
Oh well, I'll keep looking and searching.
Thanks to all for your replies, much appreciated.
