Well fellas...

I have seen no posts of yet regarding Valentine's Day. Well I can tell you this, in 2014 it was the year of the husband...at least in my house! :w00t:

My sweetheart likes to surprise me on occasion and my wife decided to get me this year. We traditionally do not do much if anything for Valentine's Day. We feel it is a Hallmark holiday and we've been married over 20 years so we ain't lookin' for anyone to be our Valentine!

We'll she has to let me know early on that I can have a new boomer...I mean c'mon...she's been taking my money for years but I know she's taking it. So she asks me have I seen anything that I want. Of course I really hadn't since I had been on a pretty good run lately. Then I saw the listing...a TRK-9900W!!!

All doors intact...all functions work...nary a scratch...MAKE OFFER...wait...OFFER ACCEPTED!!!

Now I had to wait on it for about 8 days as it came from Canada...and yes it was damaged during shipping. :annoyed: (But that'll be another thread...)

Get it into the lab for repairs and testing...for the most part all is well. The damage is to one speaker only and on the bottom. And a slight cassette issue easily resolved. Back to minty freshness!!!

Have a listen and OMG!!! :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop: When Hitachi puts their mind to something...they can hit a grand slam home run!!! Chocolaty smooth, deep rich goodness!!!! So here it is including my sweetheart La-Tunya, aka "Mrs. Oldskool". Wait she want's to pose with her favorite first for a test pose...

She insisted to pose with ISP SC800 to make sure that everyone knew it was still her favorite. And NOW onto the Hitachi!!! :afro: :afro:

Mrs. Oldskool says that the even though the ISP SC800 is her favorite, the Hitachi is still "Ooh-La-La" regardless!

So guys...have your wife, girlfriend or significant other get with the program! Perhaps this thread can bring them to a greater understanding! :-D :w00t:  :afro:

Absolutely gorgeous! And the boomboxes are nice too.
That Hitachi is amazing...but I like the wifey's taste...that ISP is hard to beat.

Looks like a cool box...i like the VU lights  ...However Mrs. Oldskool is also much prettier than the Hitachi

I'm lucky...my wife has put up with my cr@p throughout the years and is still with me  ...i went on a road trip yesterday and picked up 3 new boxes...and tomorrow i'm doing another road trip for 2 other units and she's ok with it somehow...she gave up trying to figure me out so i won't "stir the pot" and try and figure her out  :bang:

Thanks for the comments Gordie! My wife says you are wise to not stir the pot...lest you get hit with spoons.

Blessings to your good wife.

Hitachi looks awesome. I like Hitachi, though don't have any Hitachi yet.
I liked the VU with 12 segment LED.

Only other box that I have seen with 12 segment LED VU is Pioneer SK-95.

     Oh wow! And on second reading there would appear to be a rather fine boombox in that thread as well!

I heard one of these once - the boombox that is - and was amazed at the fact that something with the Hitachi badge could not only make bass but lots of it too.

That's a fantastic box, Freddy! It just oozes quality, I love those LED meters, and the digital FM tuner! In fact, I love it all! :w00t:

Congrats, and thanks for the thoroughly awesome pics! :-D

Blessings to your lovely wife! :-D

Your HItachi is AWESOME! :hooray: :hooray: :hooray:

Nowadays I have to hide my new boomboxes in the garage from Sally all the time before I bring them in. :w00t:
I lose the thrill of getting a new boombox because I have to go through that hiding process.

Thanks for the comments John! This Hitachi and my other recent pickup, the TRK-WX88W really do punch. They'll still get thumped by some of my others, but not by much. :-D Very pleasant surprises!

Thanks Retro! It is ALL quality. I'd say it's the most solid Hitachi portable I have ever seen. And I've played with a bunch of 'em. Weighs a ton!

Awesome!!! The boxes are great but Mrs. Oldy is a real Beauty! :jawdrop:
Your a lucky guy to have it all!
Thank you Scott! I am so beyond lucky to have this lady as my bride for over 20 years. I definitely married up and became easier to look at from the rub of just being next to her. I really do have it all with three wonderful children to boot. :-)

As far as the Hitachi goes though, you will want one if you've never had one. We have similar tastes in boomers Scott so TRUST ME! :-D :afro:
