Upgrade BT or buy new

It always troubles me to see vintage boxes being devalued by upgrading with Bluetooth or Lighting effects. With a grouse AIWA Box like this one it's much better to buy already made to work properly with a bit of grunt to boot.

I have mixed feelings when I look at this product. I don't like this design.
It looks like a wooden storage box. This is far from hi-fi equipment.
