So this arrived in the mail today. It needs a really good clean inside and out and a new stylus for starters. The Unix plaque from the front is missing the tone arm feels a tad wobbly and the battery terminals are pretty rusted up. Does anyone have one of these or experience with one or Marantz aka? I was wondering what the stylus is (to order another) or whether or not I should change the cartridge? It doesn't look as though it would be that hard to change. Also how would I know if the DC input is centre pin positive or negative? It's not printed near the plug and it doesn't run on AC around here. Thanks!
If there's no counterweight/anti-skate controls present I'd stick with a low end cart that tracks at 2+ grams or so; you don't want to put an upper-end cart that only tracks at say, 1 to 1.5 grams on an arm you can't adjust. You will kill your new stylus and your records in pretty short order. Something like a Stanton 500 series cart would go well with that arm, i think.
