Unicef - Crown - Lasonic

Hi -

can anyone confirm if there is a IUnicef box that is identical to the behemoth Crown/Lasonic 931? unit?

Just found one going for a song - but want to confirm that these boxes are worth having in the collection for more than just 1980's plastic overblown styliing?

This unit has the second cassette deck mounted in a car stereo style slot

Whats the going rate on these plastic pigs?

i would get it the 931 had some clones unicef, crown, lasonic and there might be others

these boxes look cool but the quality is almost as low as you can get, the sound nothing to brag about either, lasonics are 10x nicer than the crown unisef / versions i remember buying these boxes new for $129.00 and it was u huge let down compared to the lasonic which was around the same price.

Despite being decidedly underwhelmed by the sound, I'd still pick up a Unisef to go with my Crown 5100.

Beautiful machine, creak when you pick 'em up, but super cool

This is similar to a Lasonic, yes.

Spellings, however............

" Unicef "........isn't a boombox

" Unisef "..........IS a boombox.

I had the uni many years ago and loved it but 1 day it chewed 1 tape too many and i threw it blasting over a 120 foot cliff while it was blarting out the tunes

Nice to make you laugh son yes it was one hell of a hoot get this the next day i actually climed down the cliff just to get the speakers but they were totally trashed by the sea

Btw im digging out my 939 blue gunna try and tighten up the speakers and spray all the sliders on here as i realy want the 939 to sound nice
