Does anyone have any experience with this Magnavox?It was found at a Goodwill some time ago and sat in the closet.I thought it to have channel problems but today I found it just needed a switch cleaning. Other than a slight hum,its fully operational.I think it to be a bit ugly.The top of its center section is effectively its handle.There are indentations under each side for carrying.
It seems unusually powerful for a black 3-piece.At 40W input it is quite loud! It has sharp highs that are to my liking.I'm always glad to see a box like this with an equalizer so I can tweak the mids.Bass is good for much of my preferred music. However, I'm sure many here would find it lacking as its not ported and doesn't have noticeably cone excursion.
There is a CD out set of RCA jacks on the back.If you try to use these as an input,it works if you have the CD button pressed and the CD stopped.Its sensitivity is very usable though a headphone amp will put it where it should be. Trying to do the Pana RX-DT680 trick by playing a data CD only sounds like a needle being dragged through a record groove.
I really like this one.I just wish I could get rid of the hum.Its only noticeable in quiet passages of music so I really can't complain for the price I paid.Though I can't remember what that was,I do know it came from a thrifty.
