Understanding the Key Parts of a DC Machine

Hi everyone,

I’m currently studying DC machines and want to get a clearer picture of their main components.

Could someone explain the essential parts of a DC machine and their functions?

Specifically, I’m curious about the roles of the armature, commutator, brushes, field windings, and yoke.

How do these parts work together to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy (or vice versa)?

Also, are there any common issues related to these components that I should be aware of during maintenance or troubleshooting?

Any detailed explanations or diagrams would be really helpful.
