I'm nearly 40, dripping in digital **** and yearning for a simpler time when all you worried about was if your batteries would let you play that dope tape just one more time...

Are there any more UK heads in here?

Probably been done before but I'm just finding my feet here...

Wanna connect, I'm in Kent in the UK on the coast, Broadstairs, but lived all over, born in Farnborough, lived in Aldershot, Farnborough, Alton, Petersfield, London (East End, Plaistow), Midlands - Dudley... now back in Kent...

Love boomboxes and LOVE HIP HOP.

Wanna know about me?

Hey waxer, welcome to the forum.

There are a few of us UK boys on here, but we always welcome more

Have you already started collecting or just getting started.

Well it all started for me when a good mate said he wanted the radio he always wanted as a kid and when one came up in the uk reasonably priced in the right condition he bought a sharp gf777z, this was about 7 years ago. Over the following years I kept looking but not really seriously. Now I'm like a nutter and I've been scouring for the right box for a good 6 months.

For me I love the chase of hunting one down... I've missed several on eBay but that's because I want the right price and model.

So, my favorite haunts are boot sales, jumble sales, charity shops, second hand shops and word of mouth.

I got the boombox project book and dribbled over the pictures, when reading it the Missus looked over and said I had one of those and pointed to the Mack daddy conion box...

THE HUNT IS ON!

Waxer,

Your story is just great; and your web site is just great too!

It seems that you really have caught the Boombox Bug bug. Good luck finding your first grail.

PS. I remember listening to Mike Allen when he used to play a Jazz Funk show in the early eighties; I think it was him.

Yep, another limey tosser here haha!

My condolences to those that read right through my history!

Yeah I've deffo got the bug, really starting to get to know some of the makes and models... I had a Panasonic box in about '88, it was pretty good actually, not a classic per se but pretty loud...

Might have to dig into my old pics and see what it was!
