Hi all

my latest wild find is the red robo, almost fell over when I saw it in the oppie. The last one I brought off ebay as I had never seen one in the wild, now if only I could finish the family with all the color variants.

Good foams on both but the red ones disco button seems to have more effect than the greys, needs new belts but other than that it is in very good nick lucky it had the control panel intact. .

I have one more set of twins, the aiwa ca-100

Thanks for the comments, how many people on here have heard a disco robo. They seem to be fairly rare in peoples collections.

i have heard one lol. i have one. unfortunately i spit the foams out of it playing nwa one day for some friends who were over.
they are unbelievably loud units.
i had two at one point but sold one. i need to get mine going again.
mine needs a belt and suffers from the same issue as your grey one with the tape transport controls.
my big sony fh215rs are very loud but i think the robo disco might be the loudest portable stereo i have yet to hear. missing a bit of the bass of the sony i mentioned but its a really loud boomer

I have a grey Robo, all foams were shot when purchased. Fitted new speakers, new belts and full disassemble and clean.

It is a massively loud unit, a bit bass shy but very capable of high volumes. Considering fitting tweeters to the system but want to keep it failry original.

The standard drivers are pretty average, but had nice white cones

And nothing else looks like it!!

That "Disco Sound" buttom sure is nice

what for is it? :hmmm:
bass boost or so?

The "disco" button just seems to make my robo sound louder, not more bass, just more volume.

Oh, and my room transforms into a roller disco, mirror balls spin and there is red velour over everything... :ymca:
