Does anyone know if the front panel on the turntable can come off? I've undone the 3 screws on the inside and lifted away the 3 positioning tabs at the bottom but it's still snagged at the turntable chrome centre piece where is says "linear tracking". Any ideas??

Mine wouldn't come out at first because of the transport screws in there. There were 3, 2 were just in the back and one in the battery compartment.

if you want to take the deck out, first remove the transport screws from the back of the unit (that's if they are fitted, which i doubt, once there taken out, they usually get chucked) open the drawer, the two outer screws on the blue plastic back (where you stand the record) there are 4 screws, you only need to undo the outer screws, don't take them out, there's no need they are in a rubber gromit. Grab the top of the door/drawer lift it up as if you were going to close it but don't, now press down on the top of the door/drawer and push down lightly, the record deck will unhook itself from the underside of the unit and tip forward, catch it with your other hand and lean it forward but not to much, close the door so it engages the catch, look behind the deck, you will see 3 lots of wires, 2 plugs, and a set of wires that disappear up under the front these lead to the play/cut buttons, there isn't a plug on this wire. Un-clip the other 2 plugs, but look as they will be clipped onto the inside of the unit with twist wires/clips, and gently move the deck forward and up and lift it out, put it to the right of the unit, i would tilt it and lean it on the speaker grill, or get someone to hold it. The deck sits on two large springs in the bottom of the casing.

On the bottom of the deck, there are 2 plastic cups which have to fit onto the springs when reassembling. When you do put it back in, press down on the deck, you should feel a bit of springiness.

now follow the wires under the front of the unit, there are 2 small screws holding the button PCB on, take these screws out, but be very careful how you take the PCB out, don't force it or you will break it. It quite fiddley to get out and back in, i usually undo the whole unit and separate the halves slightly to get this out, in fact once you do this, it drops out!!

If you only want to change the belts, it can be done without taking out the PCB.

Look on my posts, i did a complete strip down of the VZ2000 with photos etc....its a pdf check here http://www.mediafire.com/?a9900whfke6d85a

Hi Kev,
I think you misunderstood my post. I can take the turntable out done it countless times already. I'm trying to get the front fascia off the turntable. I wanna swap the blue for the black one.
