hi everyone... i'm new here so sorry if i disturb you .. i 'm looking for anyboby that can help me to fix my 777, i'm french and recently i bought a 777 on ebay for 300 €.
the radio had some issues but it worked barely good ( left end speakers don't work, potties issues balance, main volume and not the same volume on bass speakers) though i wanna get it a new life so i decided to open it to get the knobs clean and such.but on the knob parts, when i tried to dismantled the knob board and tried to open the potties to clean 'em one by one, the main volume section had 3 of the 4 locks that broke so it couldn't be closed correctly and when i tried it, i had no sound until i pushed the volume to the max or else i had scratch noise so i think i have to change the whole knob... but i dunno such person that can advize me to help me find those parts that i need ... and now my 777 has the parts scattered because i didn't put the screws and pieces back to normal ... i need more parts but i can can exlain that later ... just tell me if someone want, to help me to restore my boombox ( a japanese seller on ebay brought me here - geoff johnson is his name)... especially if the guys you know are french.... thanks a lot!!!!

thanks to you i can explain my problem

so ....

i miss some parts
as you can see ... i don't have the grills, there is one entire tape door missing, speaking of witch the tape barely works but not that good at least the tapes don't get eat when you push the play button...also i have one speaker (end left) and maybe one bass speaker too... as for the potties i had issues on serveral knobs like main volume, balance so the sound had a lot of scratching noise when squeezing knobs from left to right ... and finally the radio mode didn't recieved that well but i don't care about it...voila that 's pretty much what sort of problem my radio have.... so i dismantle the knobs section to clean the potties but the main volume knob had 3 of the 4 locks broken so i couldn't close the main volume potties anymore... ever since then i had had to put this knob to the max or else i get no sound of all ...
fun fact i thought that both of my bass speakers doesn't work that well but it worked good as i cleaned up the potties then only one bass speaker worked ...i guess it's beacause of the main volume knob with the locks broken... thanks for listening many thanks

The time to ask for help and advice was before you took it apart. You should've been able to do a satisfactory job cleaning the controls without disassembling them. Now that the locks are broken off, which I often tell folks that these controls can only be disassembled once before metal fatigue sets in and YES, they WILL break off.

At this time, your best bet is to clamp the housing together and then use some thick tin lead (like those on larger capacitors) and then solder the lead to the housing in an attempt to hold it together. 99% of original controls are no longer available so extreme care needs to be taken and really disassembled only as a last resort. It's not something for routine maintenance.

ow ok ...damn i messed up good i guess ... if i buy another knob circuit board in loose just to change the main volume housing it could work again ...because olny the main volume locks are broken all the others were shut tight ... i had some difficulties to open them but they didn't seem to be opened before not like the one i broke ...but i don't get it , some of the knobs , when opened, had some grease and a copper circle, some doesn't so is it normal ? or someone before already dove his hands on it before me?
also there's two thin metal pieces inside the knobs for most of the pods when i was cleaning some of the blades went off because of black holder ripped away so i had to glue em to set em steady ... i guess that 's not normal or too fragile to handle if we don't have the skills,? maybe but i ll do anything to get it work ... trust me

thank you so much i appreciate!!!!merci

hi everyone ..i finally fix my potties and everything is fine except one thing

i notice that olny one of my two bass speaker works ( L)
so the (R) one doesn't work at all ...i also notice that when i plug the R bass speakers on the L one ... the R speaker works so the issue doesn't come from the speakers... i figure that the bass works when this wires (2 purple 1 blue and 1 grey) are plugged... so i changed the wires but the problem is still the same ...i don't know where this issue come from (capacitor ? knob? or some thing else) i really need your help so please can somebody tells me how to proceed to fix this?

thank you very much so far you guys!!!!!

merci a tous !!!!!!!!!!
