so iv been sitting on few of these for couple of weeks now. saw i was near 100 posts so thought id wait till had them all before posting.

first up...Toshiba RT-8840, BomBeat 14
cleaned up rather good. everything seems to work just needs a belt, looked easy to get to. tho the switches are a bit not right. have to get just in right place for aux to work. contact cleaner made work way better but still bit off. love the grills!DSC02098.JPG DSC02097.JPG

second... Sanyo M-X620
haven't given a clean yet but still in decent condition. the people i got off said they purchased brand new when they went to Fiji. not sure what year. needs some work. deck not working, record light was on constantly? but everything else seems to work fine. found a radio club in Christchurch who has a manual that they will scan for me, ill post if anyone needs it. and finally..... Crown CSC-850. In Black
i really wanted 1 of these after seeing/hearing 1 last year. its the first 1 iv seen for sale so i got it. few issues unfortunately. everything works great. just missing the metal cover for cassette door (hopefully someone can help? please) has had the speakers replaced. wasnt sure if i liked the yellow from the pictures but they look alright in the flesh. seem loud enough so i guess they be right type. needs a decent clean up. grills got little bit of rust so a repaint might be the option. few numbers on volume worn off. couple of scratches here and there.

only thing i found kind of disappointing is the AUX in has mini-jack plugs not RCA. never seen that before. could i just change to RCA somehow?DSC02103.JPG

The grills, the grills - oh, the grills on the BomBeat! :thumbsup: All three boxes are great but (have I said yet?) the grills on the BomBeat are awesome. :hooray:

Congratulations on the milestone ;-)

That Sanyo is a great looking box, and being a Sanyo I bet its really heavy and sounds good.

I like that 850 in black :hmmm:

You said it Christine. Those grills are slick. Now, I wanna paint My Crown 850 a satin Black. It looks mean as a rattlesnake.

You can get cables for those Aux jacks. I think they are 2.5 or 3.5mm. I have some and they work just as good as RCA.

as far as i know its factory black. looks legit. what would be a give away if was painted? its black inside. i do like the silver version, but beggars cant be choosers. ha. plus the crown badge has colors on it. not sure if iv seen any others like that?

yea its 3.5 mini jacks. headphones size. not sure if iv seen a 2-1 like that, but iv never looked for 1. ill find now.

All Crown 850s have black cases. The outside of the front cover is painted silver from the factory. I think your one has a painted front panel to match the black sides and rear panel.

Your version with the 'coloured' Crown badge is the later version that had plastic control knobs instead of the original versions aluminium knobs.

Your 850 looks very cool all black with the huge chrome caps!

ah-ha. that explains/answers that. cheers jimmy! an yea i had actually read somewhere about metal knobs (wiki boombox i think) hadnt thought to mention mine weren't. im still way happy with it. just need to find the cassette door cover now
