Got my 931 in the mail today, big shipping box arrived safely!!! Tested it out cautiously and was happy to have all functions working other than typical lower belt needing replaced, though it did play slowly. Does need the belt and Function selector knob and shaft, otherwise all working! It cranks out like I remember, spent hours yesterday blasting away, big grin!
Cosmetically not perfect, needs a good cleaning and polish, but is presentable. Had it apart and back together already for a sticking Power switch and loose Loudness knob.

Haven't seen another 931 with the Power switch label like this one, since I had one like it. Anyone know what edition this is or is it just a different configuration?

Sorry bout the poor pics, I need to upgrade my iPhone.

Congrats on the 931
You dont see many with that tuner dial decal.
When you took it apart Did you get the amp board out without having to unsolder anything?
I wanted to take my speakers out yesterday for cleaning and decided not to.
after unscrewing the amp board I could not budge it to far because of the wiring holding it in.

Wiring was a hinderance so I didn't fully remove it. I was able to move the board to the side. I had just enough room to snake out the Loudness lever and replace it. Any further into it and I would've had to do some de-soldering, I bet. A bit more difficult to work on the internals in this unit. They zip tied some wires to a screw mounting post, under the board, that may be keeping the board from being moved out of the way. I could lift it slightly and remove zip tie for more freedom. I had the Power switch unscrewed to clean and inspect, which may give more wiggle room also.

Thanks spoofington good info there!
I was considering a full teardown cleaning on this one.
But it looks like way more work than I am willing to take on.
I do have to re belt the lower deck on mine and lube the eject mech on the upper deck.
Other than that it is just very dusty inside and I wanted to clean the woofers.
Another day another time I guess. I am just enjoying it way too much now that it works on
Batteries.
Im sure you are enjoying yours as well!
They do sound nice, don't they?

how does anybody know for SURE --
if thats not another version of the FIRST edition --?

imho --ALL those early square jobs were FIRST editions ( variations )
then - after that - came the second edition with rounded corners

The round corner was for sure the "2nd" edition if you only are considering the shape of the box.....

931 Editions are fun because there are SOOOO many!

All corners were square until the "3rd" edition came out.
1st edition:
Led's on right

2nd edition(s):
Led's on left, dual antenna, brown power button decal
Led's on left, dual antenna, yellow/blue power button decal
Led's on left, single antenna, yellow/blue power button decal
(these also had variations for the position of the headphone jack, not sure which for what without searching)

3rd edition:
Dual cassette, rounded box corners

4th edition:
CDX-931 dual cassette, CD player, rounded corners

5th edition:
i931 ipod dock

6th edition:
i931x ipod and ipod touch dock

7th edition:
i931Bx ipod and ipod touch dock, and blue tooth
