Regular civilians would never understand!

Way to go!
Thanks bro, I have taken the 920 on flights in the past and it is right at the limit of what will fit under the sit in front of me, the real issue is there is no place to put my feet. Last time I flew to Alaska with it, which included 3 flight changes, it was rough, getting the radio in and out from under the seat and on and off the plane. It can be done, but not as easy as it could be.
Another big concern with the 920 is the switches on the front. They are very delicate (especially after 30 years) and the design lends to them hooking on things like clothing. So it's easy to rip them off. This will help prevent that. As you probably saw when I came to Italy, I had the 920 wrapped in the same foam, but in a regular suit case. The idiots at one of the airports pulled the radio out, then stuffed it all back in to the bag. Not the same way it came out, which led to one speaker grill being pushed in. I'm lucky that's all that happened. This will prevent that.

Great idea! I need one of these, and a larger one for the jumbos
They make them any size. I went to www.pelican.com to check their chart size and get the model number, then found this one on eBay. Since I already had the foam (which I bought at a crafts store prior and wasn't cheap!!!) I bought this one with no foam and free shipping. It was the cheapest one I could find at $220. With foam is slightly more, but I believe it would be cheaper to buy it with foam as opposed to going and sourcing the foam at a crafts store like I did.

Very cool. Wonder if it withstands a crash? Hopefully it never happens
I honestly don't know. It's pretty tough. I have 1 inch thick foam surrounding the radio, I think it would be better with 3/4 inch foam as it's a bit on the tight side. I may make some adjustments before I actually fly with it....
So, you might be asking....where in the hell is Chris going where he would need this?
Well, among other places....I plan to meet Max in Berlin for the Dessau 2017 meet (June?) and the Old Audio Fest in Belarus in September and cover it all first hand for Boombox Magazine. I'm positive they have never seen a Lasonic TRC-920 in Minsk!
So, as you can see, the 920 is going to get some miles put on it! It's pretty well worn out already, hopefully she will hold up!
